Week 1 (6/1/2022)
My first step for this first FLIP assignment was to do what probably everyone else did, and that was to Google; "Bad Infographics."

Fig 1.2 ; Google search bar for "Bad Infographics." (8/1/2022)

Through that, I found this Infographic (Fig 1.3), of which is depicting data collected from what I can assume was a survey on "16 things you can do to Break a Bad Habit."

Fig 1.3 ; Infographic found after Googling; "Bad Infographics." (8/1/2022)

With that, I proceeded to nitpick what I disliked about this infographic;
  • The color palette.
  • Nothing interesting going on, it's just a list.
  • It says "16 things," but it has only listed 10 things.
  • I really didn't like how they phrased their sentences.
I then looked for an online tool to FLIP this infographic; https://www.canva.com/templates/EAEuESl5VII-simple-and-colorful-productivity-infographic/

With that; I began to do research into the ways of breaking a habit and begun to cross reference the information I found with the infographic (Fig 1.3).

I resulted in only keeping 5 things a person can do to break their bad habits, and also rephrased them;
  1. Focus on one habit at a time = Start small
  2. Analyze your habit = Practice mindfulness
  3. Keep track of all your triggers = Identify your triggers
  4. Focus on eliminating the triggers = Change your environment
  5. Test out different rewards = Motivate yourself with rewards
With that, I FLIPped the infographic (Fig 1.4).

The tool I used to create this infographic was canva. I found it very easy to use, however the UI was a bit daunting, especially for someone who just had their first experience in using it. I thought editing the text and position of the text was quite self-explanatory and straight forward. There were a lot of templates and variations of infographics we could use, however, the choices provided would only serve for those creative Informational infographics, and I could not find many that would assist in making infographics related to data, statistics, and geography.

Time taken; 30 minutes.
