LECTURES
Week 5 (23/9/2021) Rhythm and movement
Having rhythm in art is one of the most difficult aspect to achieve/explain. Good composition contains value tones, shapes, positive vs negative space, perspectives/spatial depth. Should also contain a story, and a main subject. To create an interesting composition- Maximize overlaps
- Establish Patters and Rhythms
Industry technique is to find a balance of positives and negatives, and establishing visual hierarchy.
Chiaroscuro - refers to the play of light and dark, to create the illusion of 3D volume on a flat surface.

INSTRUCTIONS
Task 2 - Decisive Moment
Week 5 (23/9/2021)
We were briefed on this task, with the run down being to create a minimalistic poster relating to a movie of choice. However we had to ensure the poster is of a movie that is recognizable and not from a story off the top of our own heads. The first movie I chose was Song of the Sea. Fig 1.1 is what I used for inspiration.Fig 2.1 ; Inspiration for poster (24/9/2021)
Fig 2.2 ; First poster sketch (24/9/2021)
The second sketch I did was for the movie "Your name (Kimi No Nawa)." Fig 2.3 is what I have used as inspiration. Fig 2.3 ; Inspiration for poster (24/9/2021)
Fig 2.4; Second poster sketch (24/9/2021)
If I were to pick one that I liked the most, it would be Fig 2.4, as I feel that it is more dynamic, and that there'll be more colors. My plan for this poster is to remove all the line art, and only have it as flat colors with minimal shading. Week 6 (30/9/2021)
I decided that both posters made in Fig 2.3 and 2.4 did not have enough of a decisive moment. I decided to do another anime that I enjoyed and had just freshly finished watching. With Fig 3.1 being a key inspiration.

I sketched the third sketch poster, and with the feedback I received from my lecturers, I decided to move forward with it. Week 7 (7/10/2021)
I finished up the sketch in Illustrator and Photoshop (only for the teeth). I plan to have parts of the wall fall off during the animation.

I did a test animation for the poster (Fig 3.1)

FEEDBACK
Week 6 (30/9/2021)
My lecturers both had the same thought where by their first impression of the stairs was that 'every romance anime has a decisive moment at the stairs.' This made me realize that if viewers do not think about the specific movie based on location, then I would have in technicality, failed the assignment as my poster's function would be nil. The Song of the Sea poster, while the format was nice, held no decisive moment.
When showing them the Attack on Titan poster (on the same day), they both agreed that this was much better and held more of a decisive moment then the 'Your Name' and 'Song of the Sea' posters.
Week 9 (21/10/2021)
The timing of the pieces of wall falling are there.
REFLECTION
I will say, trying to come up with an idea, and recalling scenes from shows/movies that gave me the feeling of my heart dropping to the floor was really difficult for me, but remembering the specific scene from Attack on Titan definitely gave me that burst of inspiration. I really like how the Final JPG of the poster came out, and I am satisfied with the GIF animation as well, though the scene does not happen the way I animated it, I still think it gets the idea across, the feeling of dread when people realize that the walls, the thing that they feel keeps the safe, contained titans all along, and the simple touch of sunlight could undo years and years of progress in protecting humanity.
