LECTURES
Week 6 (27/9/2021)
PSA - A public service announcement, a message in the public interest. Used to raise awareness of public attitudes and behavior towards a social issue.
When defining your concept; artistic posters deliver their messages with subtly, with subtle designs. Most mental health PSA posters take a gentle approach. Graphics work well, need to remember the target audiences is vulnerable.
PRACTICAL
Project 2A
Week 6 (27/9/2021) Hearst Mansion
In this part, we were given two images, a picture of Hearst Mansion (Fig 1.1), and a picture of Shazam (Fig 1.2), to put together.
Fig 1.1 ; Photo of Hearst Mansion (28/9/2021)
Fig 1.2 ; Photo of Shazam (28/9/2021)
Before working on anything, I made some simple observations in Fig 1.1, and things I had to consider;- There is a slightly yellow tint to the photo.
- The reflection of the room on the water, in every part, is a very dark blue.
- I had to remember to add a shadow behind Shazam.
Fig 1.3 ; Final Photoshop of Shazam in the Hearst Mansion (28/9/2021)
Fig 1.4 ; Final PDF (28/9/2021)
In the second part of this Project, we had to Photoshop ourselves into the Hearst Mansion. I used the same observations I had when making Fig 1.3, and used the photo of myself in Fig 1.5.
Fig 1.5 ; it's me (28/9/2021)
Fig 1.7 ; Final PDF (28/9/2021)

PROJECT 2B
Week 6 (27/9/2021)
First parts of planning began this week; with my mindset at first being that; There is a tendency for individuals to try to ‘bounce back’ as fast as they can after going through hurt/betrayal, that, or they’re attempt to constantly chase after closure, all they want is something that will end the horrible chapter of life that they have been through, but there is no rush to be ‘okay’.
Give yourself time to heal. If you are not ready to move on, don’t. Don’t move on because someone told you to. Do it at your own pace. Every person mourns differently. They may have moved on fast but that doesn’t mean that you have to. It’s okay to give yourself that room to breathe.
As much as you may want to chase for closure, you need to recognize that sometimes that is not possible. Chasing for closure may be lead to trauma being relieved, dragging out emotional distress, and even worse gives the wrong people power. If you chase for an apology from someone, you are giving them the power to choose when your pain will end.
SummaryThere is no race against time when it comes to healing. There is no problem with not getting the apology you want. Take charge of your own mental health and life, don’t give other people that right to choose for you.
When thinking of title, slogan, details, and 'call for action,' I had named a few, and based on feedback, chose the one that best fitted.
For the title, I chose 'Take your time.' The other option being - Healing takes time
For the slogan, I chose 'Chasing for an apology gives someone else the choice for when your pain should end.' With the others being;- Dont give people the power to choose when you want to heal.
- It's okay to give yourself time to breathe.
For 'call for action,' I had a few, but the one I landed on was 'Heal at your own pace, no one else's.'- Give yourself the time you need.
- Give yourself the space you need.
- Give yourself time to heal.
