Week 2(31/8/2021) Balance and emphasis
Balance - The visual equilibrium in the distribution of visual weight, whether it's symmetrical or asymmetrical.- Symmetrical Balance - Equal weight on equal sides. Equal arrangement of elements on either side of the central axis (x or y). When arranged around a central point, it results in radial balance. Approximate symmetry is when equivalent but not identical forms are arranged around a rotational axis.
- Asymmetrical Balance - Unequal visual weight, with one side of the composition containing a more dominant element, coupled by the more lesser focal points of the other side. It adds dynamism and interest, evokes the look of modernism, energy, and vitality. It offers more visual variety, with a complex relationships between elements.
Golden Ratio - A mathematical concept that represents perfect beauty that is uniquely found throughout nature. It has been used for centuries as a guide to create visual balance. This Ratio can be used to bring harmony, balance, and structure.
Rule of thirds - A composition guide that divides an image evenly into thirds, where the subject of the image is placed on the intersections of the dividing lines, or along the lines itself.
Emphasis - Used to create dominance and focus in a design work.

Week 3(8/9/2021) Repetition and movement
Repetition - Makes a work of design seem active. Creates rhythm and Pattern within the work. Variety essential to keep rhythm exciting and active and avoid monotony. Pattern increases visual excitement by enriching surface interest.
Movement - The path the eye follows, in, around, and through a composition. Motion or movement in a visual image occurs when objects seem to be moving.
Hierarchy - Choreography of content in a composition, used to communicate info and convey meaning. Visual hierarchy directs viewers to the most important information first, and helps to navigate through the rest of the design (secondary content).
Alignment - Elements line up along the edges of common rows or columns, or their bodies have a common center. This creates a sense of unity and cohesion, contributes to the design's perceived stability. Alignment can also be a powerful means of leading a person through a design.

Week 3 (8/9/2021) Emphasis
When thinking of ideas for repetition/emphasis, I had been reminded of one of my favorite songs, Lag-Train by inabakumori . In the animated music video, the girl is repeated but it's done in a way so that she more of leaves behind a 'shadow' of her self as displayed in Fig 1.1.
Fig 1.1 ; Inspiration, taken from the Music video for Lag Train (14/9/2021)
In a way, this music video shows both repetition and emphasis, the shadows (the versions of her in white) being repeated and following the original version of her (the version of her in black) that's also emphasized as she is the odd one out. I then came up with the sketch in Fig 1.2.
Fig 1.2 ; Sketch of Emphasis/Repetition (14/9/2021)
This sketch shoes the first girl (in white), drinking a juice box, and the shadows (her in red) are smoking while holding a pack of cigarettes. Upon receiving feedback on my sketch during this week, I had decided to make changes and produced a different and final version, and decided to make this the design principle of emphasis.

Week 4 (14/9/2021) Repetition
When I think of repetition, I think of Copy and pasting (CTRL+C and CTRL+V). Variety avoids monotony, so while repeating the same assets (desks, books chairs), I changed the orientation of the chairs in each row, and books. I got the inspiration for this design from my Gestalt Theory idea, involving high school. I thought about a classroom.

Amazing right the concept of similarity and repetition!
